About 27 Horniman Drive
This is a small, much loved, tranquil garden with far-reaching views to the North Downs. It is sloping and south-east facing, very sheltered with well draining soils on a clay base. I love colour: a variety of plants: shrubs, roses, grasses and perennials, most of them easy and reliable, create a harmonious show a good part of the year: so come and see it any time during the season! There is a mini-meadow, the grasses give movement and geometric topiary (all home grown) provide ‘fullstops’. The garden outlines complement our modern extension with better access to the garden and its various much-used seating areas. Below and beyond my potager style vegetable haven (with greenhouse) provides many a meal and, from July, dahlias for the house. The compost (bins) helps to maintain the soils productivity and the comfrey patch to produce liquid fertiliser. The front garden is north facing and as low-maintenance as possible with roses and shrubs interspersed with a variety of ground cover plants.
