36 Jellicoe Close

An artist's and plantswoman's garden, with colourful mixed borders of perennials, exotics, and overflowing pots. The meandering paths, well-planted borders, and seating areas demonstrate what can be achieved in a smaller garden. It was described by The Sunday Times as a ‘sub-tropical paradise.’ The owner's pottery studio is open for viewing and sales, and there is an excellent variety of plants for sale.

About 36 Jellicoe Close

This garden has been created on beach/shingle reclaimed land using recycled materials and a lot of donated plants. It is mixed planting, Mediterranean, cottage-style garden with wildlife, ecology and sustainability at its heart. It is packed with trees, shrubs, perennial plants and a few exotics. Some plants have scented leaves and visitors are encouraged to experience the fragrances on offer. There are winding paths, a gazebo and a potters studio at the rear, while the front has a raised planting area with plants planted in tyres and in the shingle, giving a more naturalistic style.

It is only 5 years old – digging started in May 2019 (by hand) in the area that was previously totally paved.
