About 5 Burton Lane
This south-facing, medium sized garden has evolved over forty years and continues to change each year. It has been planned to create a variety of wildlife habitats. We grow many plants that are good for insects, including wildflowers and herbs, from the earliest spring flowers through to late Autumn and on sunny days the garden is full of bees, dragonflies and butterflies. The garden is wide rather than long and the planting throughout the different areas creates varied atmospheres with colour and interest for most of the year. The borders are a major feature with a great variety of flowering plants, including rarities, and some collections like salvias and succulents. We have many plants which self–seed and create new combinations where they appear and we grow a number of annuals from seed to add colour through the year. The variety of paths round the garden and through the borders mean you can wander and get close to the plants. There are several seating areas to relax in and look at the views, including a summerhouse . Fruit, vegetables, a small plant nursery and a greenhouse, are at the front of the garden with a woodland bed. There are areas of gravel garden with some specialist planting and a pond.
We love to welcome and talk gardening with visitors and a number have returned and told us that they have been inspired to make changes in their own gardens after their visits!
There are several walks in and from the village that you can take to extend your visit after tea and a slice of one of our wholesome home made cakes.
