About 5 Oakfields
As you enter across the small terrace, the garden takes you by surprise, as you see it dropping down to a small pond and then rising gently into a woodland area. Walking round, at each turn, there is a different theme and planting schemes full of interesting and unusual plants. There is an bed that floods in winter, planted with Iris spp, mixed candelabra primula, hostas, astrantia, calla lilies and other moisture loving plants. The highlight in June are the roses and clematis. The shady woodland area is planted with a shrub layer of hydrangeas, rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias inter-planted with different species of foxgloves, hellebores and ferns. A winter stream forms another area planted with primulas, irises, and naturalised spring flowering bulbs. There are several strategic places to sit and enjoy the peaceful garden where you can listen to an unusual number of birds and the cascade that rushes down the rockery. As you leave the garden, notice the modern stone water feature in the front garden with a backdrop of lavenders, carnations and salvias. The rest of the front is a shrubbery and walnut tree under-planted with narcissus, alliums and hardy geraniums.
