About 6 Amherst Road
The garden is especially long for a 1930s semi-detached house, as it is an infill property on a terrace of large victorian houses. There are three zones; a raised-bed patio is in development, leading to a wide lawn surrounded by established planting. A small pathway then leads to another paved area, with a bench allowing visitors to take in the small pond and rockery.
The area’s transient student population has led to an abundance of large trees and shrubs along garden boundaries, meaning that the area benefits from an uncharacteristically wide variety of local creatures for such an urban setting. The garden has been designed to accommodate winged and many-legged neighbours whilst also offering a peaceful, shady space for play and socialising.
