About 6 Hope Street

A small mature garden that is still evolving. Areas of the garden are set out primarily with alpines, some in raised areas, screes or troughs. Other areas form further low rockeries but include bulbs, perennials, shrubs as well as alpines. One border has larger perennials with a mix of bulbs and smaller plants to the front. At the back, the hostas are in pots and range from the miniature to the medium-sized forms. Some plants are in two cold frames raised on pillars to working height with storage bins and water butts underneath. The pond, with fish, has plants on 3/4 of the margins with small waterfalls at one end. On the fences there are climbing plants and others trained against them. The otter feature waterfall is surrounded by a collection of ferns, though there are a number of others around the garden. A variety of grasses and bamboos (in dustbins) give further colour. The greenhouse mostly has a wide variety of subtropical plants.
