About 75 Mayola Road
This mature town garden has developed over the past 40 years. It has retained some original features from the previous owners, including possibly the oldest summer Jasmine in Lower Clapton. The garden has not been ‘designed’ from scratch or hard landscaped but has evolved over time with many plants that were gifts or have been rescued or planted in memory of loved ones. These include a now very mature fig, along with well-established Magnolia and Wisteria. As the mature trees and shrubs have grown, a woodland walk has been created with shade loving plants. Many of the low growing plants now vigorously self-seed from year to year. The sunnier section of the garden has been designated for growing edible plants, mainly herbs and soft fruit. In addition, the garden features a Caribbean type shed and porch created from up cycled timber along with a circular ‘Gaudi’ like mosaic patio fashioned from broken pre-loved crockery and children’s seaside treasures.
