Alpaca Farm

The Herb and Edible Flower garden rests on agricultural land, nestling between alpaca fields and ancient woodland. As gardeners and artists, the owners have focused on the shape, colour and fibre of the plants as well as nutritional and medicinal value. Born from the creativity and determination of a group of women, and nourished by alpaca manure, it embodies a balance of productivity and beauty.

About Alpaca Farm

As the garden has developed over the last eight years we have become increasingly interested in the stories behind the herbs and the nutritional value of plants. The planting has a leaning towards women’s health and well-being but is good for us all.

The garden is fed and mulched only by the manure and fleece from our alpaca herd for a largely no-dig method as we adapt to the changing climate. We embrace the wild edges of the garden, integrating native plants and benefiting from their flavour, fibre and nutrients.

Our garden supplies salad leaves, micro-greens and edible flowers to restaurants and bakers and we produce our own herby flowery salads as well as a signature herb tea, cake and ice-creams!
We have also started to grow plants for fibre. The flax is processed to linen and the willow is woven to create organic fencing and sculptures.

There is also the added benefit of saying hello to the alpacas who bring a calm companionship to the gardeners.
