Butler's Cottage

There are some interesting plants in the front garden, such as the tree peony and Peace roses, while the back garden is laid to lawn with deep borders of peonies, hellebores, heucheras, acers, roses, and delphiniums. The rear section features a vegetable plot with six raised beds and a small greenhouse. Julie describes the garden as a work in progress, having only moved into the house in Aug 2025.

About Butler's Cottage

Julie has inherited a beautiful cottage garden which she intends to develop in sympathy with the Edwardian cottage. She hopes to create a white garden in the central section and to develop an early 20th century style vegetable patch making use of the mature apple and pear trees. She is bringing 25 roses from her old garden in Oxford and hopes to blend them into the mature borders that run up either side of the lawn. This is a new project and Julie is happy to discuss her plans and ideas with garden visitors. The paved area close to the cottage kitchen will be filled with pots and troughs of herbs and brightly coloured flowers to make it cheerful and a scented corner to sit and enjoy the evening sun.
