About Coombe Eden
An approx one acre Victorian garden with a contemporary feel. Over half the garden is steeply banked with original Victorian terracing, steps and planting, giving way to woodland /cottage area. A pretty beck runs through the lower garden with a Japanese style bridge and rhododendrons giving a breath-taking show in May and June. Contemporary mixed beds of grasses, herbaceous plants and shrubs have been added, together with many ‘choice’ trees planted over the last ten years. Several Japanese Acers are now a good size, American Cornus can be found dotted through the garden, Betula Jacquemontii give another good focal point, a growing collection of rowans, snakebark maple, a number of select evergreens, apple , plum, ornamental cherry and willows add to our growing tree collection. A large Rambling Rector rose covers a gazebo giving a beautiful focal point to the upper garden. A long herbaceous border, grassed areas and gravelled paths lead to a formal garden divided into four corner beds with a central feature that bursts into life with blue Iris in the spring and crocosmia in late summer. New hedges aim to divide the garden and the latest project is a substantial potager which contains sunflowers, marigolds, sweet peas, fruit and vegetables.
