About Emmetts Garden
First laid out in the late nineteenth century by Frederic Lubbock, owned for a period by the enigmatic American Charles Boise, today Emmetts is an exquisite plantsman’s garden with reminders of a happy family home and a flourishing Edwardian estate. Emmetts has a unique collection of exotic shrubs, fabulous bluebell displays and spectacular views, as well as boasting the highest treetop in Kent – a beautiful 100-foot-high Wellingtonia. Open 7 days a week, this peaceful spot on top of the Weald has something for everyone. Of particular note are the Chinese Pocket-handkerchief tree (Davidia involucrata) and the vast variety of rhododendrons. Visitors can enjoy the shop and Stable refreshment area. The National Trust is currently embarking on a North Garden restoration project at Emmetts.
