About Friars Court

Three acres of formal, and informal, gardens are within the remaining arms of a C16 moat which partially surrounds the large C17 Cotswold stone house, home to the Willmer family for over 100 years. The grounds divide naturally into smaller areas each with a subtly distinct feel.

Beyond the expanse of lawn to the front of the house are restored water-lily-filled carp ponds edged with native wild marginal plants and a living willow tunnel. The gardens at the back has ornamental trees and borders. A level path winds around part of the garden while two flat, and one arched, bridge span the moat.

A museum detailing the history of Friars Court is located in the old Coach House.
