About Frome Gardens

A warm welcome awaits at 5 different town gardens. Highclere is a large garden created by the present Owner’s late parents. The flower borders are a riot of colour and combine with a mixture of trees, shrubs and climbers surrounding the lawns. The vegetable garden has been successfully changed to organic raised beds with the owner using the no-dig method of cultivation. 46 Nunney Road, exudes colour, which is currently being developed using the no dig, organic method to be insect, bird and human friendly. Mixing formal and relaxed planting to provide a cheerful place to relax in. Several decking and seating areas adorn the garden with the organic veggie patch. The owner have carefully chosen and planted this garden with plants to give form, shape and colour all the year round and to be insect friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. 1 Tuckers Close, an interestingly designed and planted walled town garden by the owners on a fairly new estate. It has an unexpected design with wide beds, exuberant planting and a small cauldron pond. Everything is planted with wildlife in mind, its borders are set with decking and slate rather than grass. A New Garden, The Retreat, has joined the Frome Gardens Group, this is a large garden with mature trees created from the old British Rail allotments between the railway and the river, with pond, grasses rockeries. and a small allotment with wild woodland area including bees. Last but not least is 9 Catherston Close where the unexpected awaits the visitor. From a small-town garden, it has grown to 1/3 acre, with colour themed shrub and herbaceous borders, pergolas, pond and an evolving wildflower meadow. Seating allows the visitors to take in the far-reaching views of the Mendip Hills. There is a productive redesigned “no dig” vegetable and fruit garden with greenhouse. The recently refurbished pergola has been replanted with new clematises and roses, which also adorn throughout the garden. An exhibition of garden photography in the spring by the garden owner, is on display in the summerhouse. This is truly a garden of two passionate gardeners which reflects on what you see. The garden is a regular Gold Winner in the Frome in Bloom competition and has featured on local radio along with appearing in numerous publications.
