About Frome Gardens

A warm welcome awaits at 6 different town gardens. 84 Weymouth Road is a seasoned ngs opener with a garden designed by and celebrating the life of Simon Relph. Architecturally designed with metal arches, and geometrical raised beds surrounding a central raised pond. Sculptures designed by their son Alex Relph along with other artists feature throughout the garden.
61 Nunney Road is a well, cared for garden, with its new owner making a minor redesign of the garden in September 2020 with planting considerably added to. The terrace, lawn, trees and shrubs plus 3 flower beds surround an interesting and well established fruit tree. There are also 2 small ponds to attract water life, a wild corner and vegetable patch with greenhouse.
2 new gardens are opening in 2024. Highclere is a large garden created by the present Owner’s late parents. The flower borders are a riot of colour and combine with a mixture of trees, shrubs and climbers surrounding the lawns. The vegetable garden has been successfully changed to organic raised beds with the owner using the no-dig method of cultivation. 46 Nunney Road, a new NGS garden this year which exudes colour. Currently being developed using the no dig, organic method to be insect, bird and human friendly. Mixing formal and relaxed planting to provide a cheerful place to relax in. Several decking and seating areas adorn the garden with the organic veggie patch. The owners have carefully chosen and planted this garden with plants to give form, shape and colour all the year round and to be insect friendly with a relaxed atmosphere.
These 5 gardens are joined by 2 returning openings. 1 Tuckers Close, an interestingly designed and planted walled town garden by the owners on a fairly new estate. It has an unexpected design with wide beds, exuberant planting and a small cauldron pond. Everything is planted with wildlife in mind, its borders are set with decking and slate rather than grass.

From a small-town garden, it has grown to 1/3 acre, with colour themed shrub and herbaceous borders, pergolas, pond and an evolving wildflower meadow. Seating allows the visitors to take in the far-reaching views of the Mendip Hills. There is a productive redesigned “no dig” vegetable and fruit garden with greenhouse. The recently refurbished pergola has been replanted with new clematises and roses, which also adorn throughout the garden. An exhibition of garden photography in the spring by the garden owner, is on display in the summerhouse. This is truly a garden of two passionate gardeners which reflects on what you see.
