About Goldstone Hall Gardens
About Goldstone Hall Gardens The kitchen garden at Goldstone Hall is one of the largest of any hotel and restaurant in the UK, with the majority of its produce used in the hotel’s seasonal menus. The polytunnel brims with early crops and colourful heirloom vegetables, while the double-tiered herbaceous border against the old English garden wall offers a rhythm of planting: Actinidia kolomikta in May, Delphiniums in June, followed by Mallow, Crocosmia and late-flowering Clematis. By high summer, fruit and vegetable harvests reach their peak.
Beyond the borders, velvety lawns stretch out, with freshly baked cakes served in the Oak Pavilion by the hotel’s talented chefs.
The edible and sensory herb garden features peaches, figs, Szechuan pepper, honeyberries and an extensive collection of over 100 herbs, from oregano and thyme to sorrel, angelica and salsify. A newly planted trial vineyard includes 140 vines of Solaris, producing fresh, fruity whites well suited to Shropshire’s terroir, and Pinot Noir, the noble red grape of Burgundy. Visitors can also discover the quirky Box hedge and yellow yew ‘sign’, while new areas continue to evolve within the five-acre site, framed by 10 acres of unspoilt pasture and sweeping views across the valley.
Goldstone Hall Hotel & Gardens has been widely recognised, featuring in leading publications such as The English Garden, RHS The Garden Magazine & Gardens Illustrated. In 2025, it was awarded Best Small Hotel across Shropshire and the Midlands in the West Midlands Tourism Awards, celebrating both its exceptional hospitality and garden excellence.
