Grooms Cottage

Be prepared to be surprised at what lies behind the garden gate. A cottage garden, around ½ an acre in size comprising mixed herbaceous borders and an abundance of English roses. Highlights inc home-made water features, raised beds and pergolas, oriental garden, hosta gardens and a productive fruit and vegetable garden and greenhouse.

About Grooms Cottage

BBC Gardeners World Winners 2024 – People’s Choice Award
The owners have worked hard on the garden design and planting with a focus on low maintenance whilst being productive, giving a cottage garden feel with quirky additions laid out as garden rooms working in harmony with many existing mature trees.
Garden buildings and use of reclaimed landscaping materials to add interest and height and lots of seating areas around the garden. ideas for up cycling and re-using found throughout the garden.
The garden is split into sections, shady, oriental, dry, alpine, herbs, tropical, vegetable, roses, irises with year round interest.
A highlight of planting includes many old English roses (over 100), shrubs and climbers and large variety of shade loving plants and over 150 hosta varieties, many of which are labelled.
To ease the gardening, raised beds have been used throughout to complement the existing planting.
