About Helen's Garden
Welcome to Helen’s Garden.
What began in 2000 as a hogweed-filled field has since been transformed into a garden full of year-round interest and character. Part of the land was levelled to create a traditional lawn, while a variety of hedging styles have been planted to shape and define the space.
Wander through the soft-fruit cage and vegetable plot, past a small orchard of apple, pear, and plum trees, and into the rose garden bordered with vibrant blooms. Explore the wildflower area, pass through the Willow Arch, and discover the rockery, Bishop’s Triangle, and Time Square.
Continue to the Paxton Circle, featuring six distinct planting areas encircled by a path of slate chippings. From there, stroll down to the main lawn, edged with native species hedging, and visit the pond, greenhouse, and potting shed. Throughout the garden, seating areas invite you to pause and enjoy the stunning views across the Horseshoe Pass and beyond.
Keep an eye out for soaring buzzards and red kites above, and perhaps spot a squirrel or two playing in the larch trees.
