Highfield Cottage

A ¾ acre suburban garden bordered by mature trees and a stream. Structure provided by numerous yew and box topiary featuring a pergola and sculptures. Lawns with island beds, a small orchard and a fern and hosta area. The garden has been changed since joining the National Garden Scheme to create more distinctive areas and is slowly moving to white planting to provide contrast to the topiary.

About Highfield Cottage

The garden, its structures and sculptures are created and maintained solely by the owner.
Inspiration has been taken from gardens visited whilst travelling and Debbie is striving to create a garden which offers a variety of places for contemplation and reflection and is a lasting memorial to her husband who started the topiary.

The garden is natural yet structured, giving an interesting blend. In May the garden has wild garlic, tulips and allium giving a real feeling of spring and in late summer the borders are striking with many tall plants.

The garden makes use of much reclaimed material.
Visitors say they see new things every time they come and the judges for the regional final of Garden of the Year described it as unique.
