Hylands House

Hylands is an Arts & Crafts house and garden built in 1910. Tucked back from the road the gardens cover 2½ acres with varied areas, including formally laid out gardens, a wildlife pond, wilder areas, an exotic area, woodland walk, kitchen garden, orchard, as well as some extraordinary sculptures. Organically managed the garden restoration began in 2020.

About Hylands House

Emma and Craig moved to Hylands in 2020. The house was a dream project for Emma as an architect and after the house refurbishment, work began to bring the gardens back to life. Craig is a retired businessman and town councillor, with a passion of art, creativity and sculpture, some of which you can see round the garden. Many vistas had been lost over the years, some of which have been rediscovered. Over 800 native trees have now been planted. The wildlife pond and rill was introduced in 2023 on what was once a grass tennis court. A willow spiral is a new addition with Emma’s interest in basket making.
