About Kamala

The herbaceous borders are densely planted to provide continuous colour throughout the year containing many unusual and interesting plants as well as the more traditional cottage varieties. Some of the trees and shrubs of note are acers, Catalpa Aurea, Cercis ‘Forest Pansy’ and a large unusual Sinocalycanthus. Various climbers are grown through these to prolong the season of interest. The herbaceous borders sing with colour as displays of salvia are surpassed by dahlia drifts with gingers, Brugmansia and various bananas and bamboos adding an exotic note. There are many different canna inc several large Ehemannii. Grasses sway above the blooms giving movement. Nestled above a pergola containing climbing roses is an aviary which houses a breeding pair of Amazon parrots. Featured on Gardeners’ World August 2021.
