The herbaceous borders are densely planted to provide continuous colour throughout the year they contain many unusual and interesting plants as well as the more traditional cottage varieties. Some of the trees and shrubs of note are acers, Catalpa aurea, Cercis ‘Forest Pansy’ and a large unusual Sinocalycanthus. Various climbers are grown through these to prolong the season of interest.
