About Manor Farm, Coston
A garden that has slowly evolved over the last 30 years, each year a new project brings something different. Old walls provide plenty of space for many climbing roses. The borders are filled with classic herbaceous plants interspersed with annuals to add further interest. Beech, hornbeam and box hedges add formality and give winter structure to the planting as well as being used to define the different rooms in the garden. The walled veg garden is divided formally with old sleepers and a box centre piece, growing supports are made from the garden’s coppiced willow and hazel. A white garden and grass garden add another sensory experience.
Wildflower meadows both front and rear of the house takes the formal into the informal planting and is alive with bees & insects in the summer. There are two very ornate copper tree fountains in the late summer garden and several other sculptures lurking elsewhere in the garden for you to find, a large study of Peter Pan is particularly stunning and wonderful for children. Dogs are most welcome and there is a field walk of approx 1 mile down an avenue of acer ‘Autumn Blaze’ and crab apple ‘Everest’ underplanted with wildflowers and then through a small arboretum to enjoy.
