Mayfield Gardens

Mayfield is a beautiful Wealden village with tearooms, an old pub and many interesting historical connections. The gardens to visit are all within walking distance of the village centre. They vary in size and style with a wide range of shrubs, herbaceous and annual planting and inc wildflower meadows, fruit and vegetable plots, mature trees and colourful pot displays. There are far-reaching, panoramic views over the beautiful High Weald.

About Mayfield Gardens

This year we have a group of three gardens:
Airlie Cottage
This is an going restoration project involving new planting schemes, borders and layouts, complementing the former plantsman’s garden.

South Street Plots:
Eight plots in traditional allotment style growing vegetables, fruit and flowers. Superb views

The Oast:
A one-acre garden with imaginative planting, wildflower meadow, trees, shrubs, vegetables and fruit. Featured in The English Garden, RHS The Garden and Gardening Which? magazines.

Due to temporary parking restrictions and a road closure in Mayfield, please note:

  •  The Memorial Hall car park is closed while the new village hall is being built.

  • Fletching Street, the main route to The Oast from the village is closed; pedestrian access only.

  • Parking at the Old Fire Station (TN20 6PJ), within walking distance of all gardens on the trail.

  • Visitors from the north (Tunbridge Wells direction) should follow Lake Street and Little Trodgers Lane to the Old Fire Station. Vehicle access to The Oast is via the signed diversion through Coggins Mill Lane (TN20 6TN).

  • Visitors from the west can access South Street Plots (TN20 6AB) and Airlie Cottage (TN20 6AU), with parking in South Street car park, the High Street, or Station Road. The Oast can be reached on foot via Fletching Street or by following the diversion via Tunbridge Wells Road, Little Trodgers Lane, Lake Street and Coggins Mill Lane.
