Mount Pleasant is a garden of just under ½ an acre on two levels with a high bank (part of which is a rockery) in between. The lower level is partly a gravel garden and partly a parterre. The higher level is partly a lawn interspersed with flower beds and partly a wildflower meadow with trees. Access to this area is by a slope, quite steep in places, or 26 steps.
