About Norton Court
The gardens at Norton Court have been developed over the last 27 years by the current owners.
The house is surrounded by formal and informal gardens, lawns, orchards, wildflowers and majestic old trees. There is a purposeful balance between the formal and informal, in how the plants and borders are viewed and relate to the general perception of the calm and peacefulness that the owners feel (and hope their visitors do too) when wandering around this beautiful garden.
The walled garden (pool garden) was completely redone in 2003 successfully replacing a dilapidated tennis court and the remains of an old glass house. It took at least 18 months reimagining how it would look to ensure no single element ‘jumped out’ and in particular the swimming pool !
The North lawn was successfully sown as an annual cornflower meadow in 2020 and is now a major feature of the garden.
Pleached hornbeam down the rear drive separates the Sorbus circle in the Nuttery from the Orchard.
The little temple is aligned with the parterre on the south front of the house and the church border has also been redesigned in the last couple of years. The unique topiary border on the drive has amused family members, children and visitors alike since 2001.
