About The Butler's Cottage

The Butler’s Cottage was built around 1740 for an employee of Hannington Hall.

The front, road-facing garden of The Butler’s Cottage presents an image of a typical English country cottage to visitors and passers-by.

The cottage garden theme is continued throughout the south-facing rear of the property which is reached via a gravel driveway alongside a large shrub filled bank.

The driveway opens onto a large slate-flagged courtyard, with a variety of potted shrubs and plants, hanging baskets, clematis, a fern bed, and a seated area with a view over open countryside.

Accessed through a beech hedge lies an area of lawn with a large herbaceous border, apple trees and roses.
