About The Old Rectory
Over 2 acres, The Old Rectory garden has been redesigned and replanted sympathetically around an original Victorian design.
Hidden behind a formal front garden with traditionally planted beds the woodland garden is a green hollow (an old quarry) of historic charm, wildlife welcoming, with ancient and newly planted trees and shrubs, crossed by paths leading to hidden areas. In spring the woodland has snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells. Rhododendrons, Hydrangeas and Acers with a mixture of flowers, including roses, daisies and geraniums bring pops of colour to the ‘form’ of the garden throughout the year.
Overall, the garden includes many ancient, mature and newly planted trees. These include an Indian Bean Tree and a Handkerchief tree. There are a number of unique garden buildings, a small bog garden, a vegetable patch, a meadow area with fruit trees, an areas of ferns and access to the boundary stream. The garden continues to evolve and develop.
