About The Old Rectory
Over 2 acres, The Old Rectory garden has been recently redesigned and replanted sympathetically around an original Victorian design.
Hidden behind a formal front garden with traditionally planted beds the woodland garden is a green hollow (an old quarry) of historic charm, wildlife welcoming, with ancient and newly planted trees and shrubs, crossed by paths leading to hidden areas. In spring the woodland has snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells. Rhododendrons, Hydrangeas and Acers with a mixture of flowers, including roses, daisies and geraniums bring pops of colour to the ‘form’ of the garden throughout the year.
Overall, the garden includes many ancient and newly planted trees including an Indian Bean Tree and a Handkerchief tree and new shrubs are included amongst exiting shrubs. Unique garden buildings, a vegetable patch, newly planted fruit trees, areas of ferns and of wild grass, access to the stream and a bog garden with several small ponds have all been added to the garden in the last few years as the garden continues to evolve and develop.
