The Old Vicarage

Vibrant 4 acre south-facing coastal garden, with varied stunning vistas of Talland Bay, the ancient Talland Church and surrounding hills. Mature Monterey pines lead directly to the SW Coast Path. Restoring this historic churchyard garden has been an ongoing labour of love since 2018. Paths and some steep steps wind through terraced gardens, with seating to rest and enjoy the wonderful views.

About The Old Vicarage

The Old Vicarage is set in a tranquil coastal location at Talland Bay, situated between the historic town of Looe and beautiful fishing village of Polperro. After many years of neglect, work began in 2019 under new custodianship to restore the 18th Century gardens from being densely bramble-choked to reveal camellias, rhododendrons and hydrangeas. The landscape presents a complex set of challenges with different areas characterised by varied plant selections and solutions. Special features include mature Monterey pines, large copper beach and magnolia, a small vineyard, fruit trees, and recreational facilities including a tennis lawn and pétanque court.

The main garden area around the house is accessed over gravel paths, with an accessible WC. Paths, including some steep steps and uneven walkways, lead to other areas of the garden.
