The Picton Garden

1½ acres west of Malvern Hills. Bulbs and a multitude of woodland plants in spring. Interesting perennials and shrubs in August. In late September and early October colourful borders display the National Plant Collection of Michaelmas daisies, backed by autumn colouring trees and shrubs. Many unusual plants to be seen, inc more than 100 different ferns and over 300 varieties of snowdrop.

About The Picton Garden

A plantsman’s garden sited at the base of the Malvern Hills, 3 miles west of Great Malvern. Late season perennials and many unusual shrubs and trees make for an interesting visit in August. The garden lights up as September progresses and the National collection of autumn flowering asters (Michaelmas daisies) get going. By late September the garden is a tapestry of colour with autumn colouring trees & shrubs providing the background. Although best known for its autumn beauty the garden has been extensively renovated and reworked over the last few years, with an emphasis on adding to the spring and early summer interest. In particular the woodland areas where there are now a multitude of unusual plants forming the understorey, including Epimediums, more than 100 different ferns (including the National Collection of Polypodiums) and many bulbs. There is also a growing collection of historic daffodils (pre-1930) and more than 300 varieties of snowdrop.

On B4218 (Walwyn Rd) N of Colwall Stone. Turn off A449 from Ledbury or Malvern onto the B4218 for Colwall.
