About The Stables
The garden has a certain gentleness, structured, but in many ways, connected more to the landscape and with a natural and uninterrupted flow. Wild flower and grass areas border the planted beds, leading into fields and wild hedgerow. A dozen native trees have been planted in the last 5 years for wildlife and visual interests. We are happy for visitors to picnic in the field, which is generally grazed by a horse and a few Portland Cross sheep, although all animals are removed during opening days! A water storage pond is at the top of the field, catching winter rainfall and is used mainly in the vegetable garden when required so mains water is never needed.
