About The Walled Gardens of Cannington

The Walled Gardens of Cannington lie within the grounds of a medieval Priory, and many of its fine buildings, including the walls of the gardens, remain. Having undergone extensive redevelopment over the last few years, the gardens now have classic and contemporary features such as; the ‘hot’ herbaceous border; the blue garden; a sub-tropical walk and a shade border, Within the Gardens can also be found the botanical glasshouse showcasing exotic plants from around the world, an innovative aquaponics system and the professional production of plants. Two smaller gardens lie within the walls, The Bishop’s and Southern Hemisphere Garden are areas of real tranquillity. The Gardens form part of Bridgwater & Taunton College and as well as ensuring the continuation of a garden on this historic site, provide a dynamic learning environment for students as well as an area of real beauty and interest for visitors. The Tea Room offers a relaxing atmosphere, and the Plant Nursery and Gift Shop offer a variety of Cannington-grown plants, including some specialist rarer plants at very reasonable prices. The Gardens are a gem waiting to be discovered!
