About Walnut Tree Cottage
Exuberance with the occasional nod to formality in this ½ acre garden. Long curved borders, winding paths and shrubs present a variety of different vistas and secluded seating areas. The shady beds under the trees in both front and back gardens accommodate tiny Spring treasures, with fritillaries often followed by wild bee orchids growing in the front lawn. The large long sunny borders, packed with interesting perennials, are colour themed, with soft traditional planting in some borders and the hot, riotous themes of late summer and autumn in others. Roses, both old varieties and David Austin’s, feature widely throughout, with spectacular displays in June into July, of Paul’s Himalayan Musk reaching for the top of the old Walnut tree and Adelaide d’Orleans venturing across silvery Pyrus salicifolia Pendula in the back garden.
