About Warren Mews
Tucked away behind the hustle and bustle of Tottenham Court Road is the enchanting hidden garden of Warren Mews. On first glance, it is impossible to tell that the plants in this verdant paradise have no access to the earth. Warren Mews is a place where pots of paradise flowers, window boxes bursting with geraniums and containers of olive trees rule the street, and where dandelions growing through the cracks in the cobbles are welcomed and watered.
This remarkable feat of guerrilla container gardening is all thanks to the valiant efforts of Rebecca Hossack who lives in a plant-decked house at the entrance to the Mews. Rebecca’s hard work – which included her running the New York Marathon to raise money for trees to be planted throughout the neighbourhood – have inspired other Mews residents to take up their spades. Now, the garden stretches all the way to the end of road, with neighbours and businesses alike lining the spaces outside their homes and offices with planters bursting with leafy splendour.
A variety of home-made teas and cakes, as well as soft drinks will be available for purchase on the day of the garden opening.
