About Woolton House
This major garden was designed by the famous French designer Pascal Cribier. At present this is the only example of his work in this country. The large Mondrian–inspired layout is dramatic from any angle, even from the air. The long lines of vegetables interspersed with flowers in wonderful colours and textures and in generous quantities leaves a lasting impression for the visitor.
The tramline garden has long green paths, exactly the width of the mower. Between these is planting in red: tulips followed by geums, dahlias and amaranthus, later with many different squashes. The picking garden has red pillars for the vines, to partly shade the separate beds of flowers for picking.
In the smaller walled garden is a dramatic planting of large cacti interspersed with rows of different sedums. Finally the rose garden has a majestic pond on different levels. This remarkable garden should not to be missed.
