About 1 Southview
The front garden has a gravel garden on one side of the drive and a well stocked terraced bank with dry stone walls on the other side. You then go through the side gate into a patio area surrounding the conservatory with many perennials and small trees in pots, e.g. Hostas, Acers, twisted Hazels, Pieris, and others. Continuing on up the brick steps you have a beautiful old Acer on your right surrounded by big tubs of plants at its base with raised beds and more pots on the left. Several large potted Acers help to make pretty tunnel effect leading to the next patio which again has many interesting flowering plants and small shrubs and trees in pots. Through an old iron arch you are led up a winding path past the herbaceous beds, with an old cherry tree growing on one side. Different bulbs and herbaceous plants come out through the year including roses, alliums, delphiniums and clematis and later rudbeckias, asters and Japanese anemones. . The last little area going past a topiarised holly is another gravel garden, a bricked enclosed raised bed with annuals and bee friendly plants, cold frame, a collection of echeverias and alpines in pots, various annuals in a raised bed. and the large compost bins. Quite a journey, all in all!
