About 15 Douglas Road
Influenced by the National Trust garden at Hidcote Manor, this garden is designed as a series of outdoor ‘rooms’, separated by hedges, fences and arches.
A circular cottage garden with a central decorative and personalised fire pit is reached through a plum tree and ceanothus arch and is separated, by apple and plum trees, from a vegetable garden with raised beds. A herb garden with raised beds shares space with a large weeping willow tree, where bird feeders attract a range of different birds.
A pond harbours newts, snails and ‘Brickhill’ frogs, which provide serenades during their mating season. A gazebo and small wildflower meadow are side by side in yet another garden. There is plenty of seating for people to relax and enjoy the seclusion and sense of peace that the garden provides.
The gardens are accessible for those using wheelchairs. Two dogs and a cat live here and dogs are allowed on leads. There is some parking available at the front of the bungalow. Admission £5. Light refreshments available.
