About 2 Peacock Lane
2 Peacock Lane is a 19th century cottage which underwent complete renovation 5 years ago.
Excavations to build a contemporary extension meant the rear garden had to be redesigned and planted from scratch. The biggest challenge was the difference in levels between the cottage and garden. Julie and Martin have used railway sleepers and dry stone walls in a creative way to retain the soil while providing steps up to a lawn and an opportunity for planting and seating at different heights. The garden has views across open countryside and the tiered sleepers mean that these views are retained from inside the house.
Although new, the planting is already well established with mainly herbaceous perennials. Small trees and shrubs in pots provide height where needed.
