About 39 Wood Vale
The garden is dominated by a gigantic perry pear once being a part of one of the once famous East Dulwich orchards. Many other fruit trees can be seen in neighbouring gardens. This diverse garden puts its emphasis on nature and its inhabitants; The scented mahonia flowers and pear blossom are covered in busy bees in spring. The diverse insect life makes a perfect home for a variety of birds including the green woodpecker, dunnock and redwing. There are displays of auricula and pulsatilla along with pots of semponium and other succulents. We have planted a King James mulberry, a golden Indian bean tree, a quince tree and a Judas tree. The spring flowers include grape hyacinths, primroses, hellebores, forget-me-nots, pulmoarias, fritillaries and tulips. Around the old apple tree at the end of the garden, the large swathes of narcissi are a delight to see.
The fence backing onto the green lane is covered in blackberries and is pure heaven for the bees in June and are much picked by friends and family from July onwards.
