Askew Cottage

The owner, a professional garden designer, has used curved paths and a variety of structural hedges to enclose spaces, each with a distinct feel. The planting is a mix of shrubs, perennials and bulbs giving a long season of interest. As of this year there is also a new area, with a slightly more contemporary feel, that will be awash with tulips for the spring openings.

About Askew Cottage

We have radically altered the entrance garden because of the moth-devastation of the Box hedging, which has all now been removed. The new planting has quickly become established and it will be a riot of tulips for the spring openings. The rear garden, which was designed to give year-round interest with several different areas connected with flowing curved paths, remains much the same. Beech and yew hedges enclose the spaces, giving structure, and acting as a backdrop to areas of both shade and sun-loving planting. There will be abundant spring bulbs for the May openings, squirrels notwithstanding.
