About Bareppa
The garden has been developed from a mainly agricultural plot over the last 10 years. With environment and wildlife in mind, the planting and design has been selected for compatibility to the surrounding area encouraging wildlife and diversity. It is informal with many different areas and themes. The pond supports frogs, toads and newts plus the dragon and damsel flies over the summer months.
The mixed orchard is still young and underplanted with bulbs and wildflowers with the grass left to grow and seed.
This year we are experimenting with a small lawn of micro clover as a grass alternative, it may be extended if successful.
The decorative beds have an array of perennial and herbaceous plants with the haha creating its own mini climate for climbers and roses. The vegetable plot and the allotment are maintained with help from students for their own ideas and choices as well as their interaction with our animals.
The garden has easy access for disabilities and a play area for children.
