Burton Village Gardens

The Coach House is rejoining us in 2026. With stunning views across the River Dee, the garden is full of colour and has a new water feature. Only 3 yrs old, 4 Burton Manor Gardens is a tiny gem with interesting shrubs, a herbaceous border, cheerful pots and even tomatoes in the greenhouse. Close by is Burton Manor Walled garden with period planting and a splendid vegetable garden surrounding the restored Edwardian glasshouse. Paths lead past a sunken garden and terraces to views across the Cheshire countryside. Trustwood is a relaxed country garden, a haven for wildlife with emphasis on British native trees planted along the drive, the use of insect friendly plants and wildlife ponds. Briarfield has many unusual plants, some available in the plant sale at the house. The 1½ acre main garden invites exploration not only for its variety of plants but also for the imaginative use of ceramic sculptures. Such diversity, but we are all gardening on a light sandy, slightly acid soil.

About Burton Village Gardens

The Coach House, on a south facing sandstone hillside overlooks the Dee Estuary, this revitalised garden is just over an acre. There are sunny herbaceous borders and shady spaces, something for everyone. It’s hard to imagine that work at No. 4 Burton Manor Gardens was only started 3 years ago . Already it’s a tiny gem, with an interesting collection of shrubs under the shade of an ancient tree, a herbaceous border alongside the lawn, and colourful pots. Then tucked away to the side, a greenhouse with tomatoes and even a few vegetables. Also within the grounds of Burton Manor you will find the Walled Garden where Period planting incorporating a splendid vegetable garden surrounds the restored Edwardian glasshouse. The Perimeter path leads past a sunken garden and terraces to views across the Cheshire countryside. Areas adjacent to this path are being restored and developed. Trustwood is a relaxed country garden, a haven for wildlife with emphasis on British native trees planted along the drive, the use of insect friendly plants and two wildlife ponds. Briarfield’s sheltered site, to the south of Burton Wood (NT), is home to many unusual plants, some available in the plant sale at the house. The 1½ acre main garden invites exploration not only for its variety of plants but also for the imaginative use of ceramic sculptures. All the gardens have a slightly acid, light sandy soil which dries out quickly so mulching is a major activity, everything helps, home made compost, wood chip and leaf mould are used copiously.
Plant sales at some gardens. Free car parks. Maps available.
