Copyhold Hollow

A different NGS experience in two north facing acres. The cottage garden surrounding C16 house (not open) gives way to slopes and steps up to woodland garden. Species primulas a particular interest of the owner. Stumpery. Not a manicured plot, but with a relaxed attitude to gardening, an inspiration to visitors.

About Copyhold Hollow

Cottage garden in a hollow with woodland garden above. Damp loving perennials including species primulas. The oak stumpery gives way to a rock garden and the whole garden is planted for year-round interest.

The woodland garden is full of camellias, rhododendrons, bulbs, deciduous azaleas, primulas and native trees all watched over by the matriarchal beech in the centre of the garden. The cottage garden swirling around the 16th century cottage is fronted by 1000 year old box hedge.
