Circle of box hedges, yew square and topiary; aquilegia and lupins in early June and dahlias, roscoeas and annuals in early September provide much colour. The old orchard, with wildflowers, gives access to a mown walk through a sheep grazed meadow to a woodland area, affording good views across South Tyne valley.
