About Hostellarie
This garden has seen many changes since the owners moved in over 50 years ago. Breakleys Road houses are built on allotment plots, so we have used this to our advantage by dividing the garden into areas. Lawns and grass paths draw you through ‘rooms’ of different character, from the courtyard garden by the house to the wildlife pond at the bottom, where the well stocked sales table is near the compost heap. Roses, clematis, and plenty of herbaceous perennials grow in the many colour themed borders. Stella’s collection of over 50 different Hostas, take up more space each year and are the pride of the garden. We can name most of them accurately, but the few we can’t are still interesting and have their own provenance. We have been complimented on our many water features and our springy lawns. The garden has a small area for fruit, some of which has been turned into jam for sale. We try to ensure every visitor has a laminated garden history and description to enhance their visit.
The garden team enjoy talking to visitors and take pride in the warmth of our welcome.
Hostellarie is accessible with a wheel chair but there is a tight turn which could be difficult.
