About Lexham Hall
Extensive views over listed parkland, which surrounds the house and is grazed by sheep. Lakes and riverside walks; the river Nar flows through the woodland garden.
Formal garden with terraces, yew hedges, mixed borders, roses re-planted in 1997 by Beales Roses. Traditional kitchen garden includes an orchard, cutting borders and a crinkle crankle wall of circa 1680. The 15′ wisteria clad ‘Dome’ is the centrepiece in the walled garden where a major new planting scheme continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries with experimental plantings and ideas.
Extensive collection of scented, winter flowering shrubs and woods, carpeted with snowdrops and aconites. 3 acre woodland garden of fine trees, with azaleas, rhododendrons, camellias and magnolias, has been recently extended to include cornus and other interesting shrubs. There is also a reed thatched summerhouse. New borders in the last decade have concentrated on late summer/early autumn interest with an emphasis on winter form.
