About Little Orchard

Little Orchard is situated in the beautiful Slad Valley immortalised in Laurie Lee’s autobiographical book ‘Cider With Rosie.’ The plot adjoins the Frith Wood Nature Reserve, managed by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and further mixed woodland lies to the NE of the garden.
The garden enjoys a sunny SW aspect and is a haven for wildlife.
The owners have developed the garden in stages over 32 years using many salvaged items from theatrical stage sets, reclamation yards and obsolete cider equipment.
The garden is constantly evolving with some areas still to be completed.
The use of terracing has created many garden rooms and seating areas. Features include lawns, ponds, water features, woodland, stumpery, herbaceous borders, trough garden, Mediterranean courtyard, Japanese style garden, vegetable garden, soft fruit cage, children’s play area, orchard and Cidery.
Many acers, specimen trees and hostas can be found throughout the garden.
Exhibition of local artists’ work which are available for sale.
Children’s trail.
