About Lower Hope

An outstanding colourful garden with wonderful seasonal variations from spring to autumn. This 5-acre garden facing S and W is totally irrigated into 5 zones.

Impeccably manicured lawns embrace extensive herbaceous borders, rose gardens and walks, and include a white garden, Mediterranean garden, Italian garden and a Japanese garden. Water plays a large feature throughout the whole garden with both natural streams and man-made waterfalls. Bog gardens are incorporated in the water features.

The extensive cultivated gardens lead into a woodland area with Azaleas and Rhododendrons predominant which, in turn, show the visitor into the lime tree avenue and ultimately to the lake landscaped with wild flowers and bulbs.

A large glasshouse and conservatories house exotic species including orchids, bougainvilleas and other tropical plants and colourful butterflies breeding during the summer.
Prizewinning herd of pedigree Hereford cattle and Suffolk sheep graze in the field surrounding the gardens.

Glasshouses with exotic plants and breeding butterflies. Tickets bought on the gate will be cash only.

A465 N from Hereford, after 6m turn L at Burley Gate onto A417 towards Leominster. After approx 2m take 3rd R to Lower Hope. After ½m garden on L. Disabled parking available.
