About Maggie's West London
“The garden at Maggie’s West London was designed in 2008 by English landscape designer Dan Pearson OBE, to complement the award-winning building designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners.
It is a well-established outdoor space offering therapy and peace to thousands of visitors affected by cancer. The mature gardens envelop the vivid orange walls of the Centre, sheltering it from the busy Fulham Palace Road.
The meandering path leading to the Centre takes visitors through a tapestry of spring-blooming ground-cover plants, flowering shrubs and trees. Visitors have access to three internal courtyards and roof-gardens, planted with an array of flora, including sun-loving Mediterranean species, a mature Strawberry vine and even a stand of Rice-paper plants (Tetrapanax papyrifer).
The gardens at Maggie’s provide a breathing space and therapy rooms, reinforcing the importance of the natural world in the healing process from cancer. Cake and tea will be provided for guests visiting as part of the NGS, with a suggested donation of £5 which will directly benefit the Centre.
