Oak Farm/Homestead

In the heart of Crews Hill is our 3 acre garden and meadow. It has been reclaimed over 30 yrs from pig farm to relaxed planting, a haven for wildlife. Walled garden leads to vegetable plot, greenhouse, and orchard. Woodland walk, lawns and stone ornaments. Martin built the house, the brick walls and metal work. Abundant cyclamen in woodland in Sept.

About Oak Farm/Homestead

Spread over a 3 acre site, tucked away behind the bustle of Crews Hill with its popular garden centres and nurseries, you will find our constantly developing enterprise. Paddocks where horses used to graze provide scope for creating a wild flower meadow and adjoining dog training facilities. A huge barn offers protection in bad weather. Another barn housed breeding sows while we ran a pig farm and lived in a caravan. Then Martin built the house and we gave up the pig farm and concentrated on bringing up our family.

Combining our many skills such as welding, building, carpentry, tree surgery and an eye for design we set about making a garden we could all enjoy, transforming rough fields into a woodland, an orchard and arboretum while preserving the wonderful old oaks already on the land.

Martin has incorporated discarded iron gates around the terrace and created walls with a gothic doorway.

Genine’s eye for a bargain has added interest by seeing potential in what others discard.
Most of the plants have been bought for no more than £1 and carefully nurtured by Genine.

Arboretum and lovely country views.
