About Repton NGS Village Gardens
Askew Cottage, Milton Road – The owner, a professional garden designer, has disguised the rectangular site by using curved paths to link together the different areas. Beech, box and yew hedges provide structure and the planting within is constantly evolving. Features include a circle of meadow grass set within a cloud box hedge, trained apple trees and a small wildlife pool. Much new planting for 2023 to combat drought conditions and new work planned for witer 2024/2025
10 Chestnut Way – the same huge range of plants with herbaceous borders, alpine areas and woodland. Expect a colourful display throughout the yr. Plenty of seats, conservatory if wet. Prepare to be surprised.
34 High Street – A traditional garden behind a historic village property. Courtyard at side with main garden up steps through rockery. Well stocked herbaceous beds, vegetables and soft fruit. Stunning hanging baskets.
22 Pinfold Close -Small garden with an interest in tropical plants. palms, gingers, cannas and bananas. Mainly foliage plants. Changes over the last year include, construction of an orchid house.
Repton Allotments – Set on the edge of Repton with lovely views over the Derbyshire countryside. There are about 20 plots growing many types of vegetables and flowers too. Includes community area. Awarded a special judges commendation in 2024
If you are passing the new Village Hall take a look at the surrounding beds – still under development – with much input from the local NGS gardeners and praised by the Britain in Bloom judge.
